2015 Iowa 4-H Foundation Gala to Move to Cedar Rapids
The Iowa 4-H Foundation will host its 6th Annual 4-H Gala to support Iowa 4-H youth.

AMES, Iowa— The Iowa 4-H Foundation’s Sixth Annual Iowa 4-H Foundation Gala is headed east. After a successful smaller gala sponsored by the foundation in the area in 2014, the Iowa 4-H Foundation has decided to bring the event to the Marriott in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on Saturday, February 28, 2015. A dinner buffet and decadent desserts will be on the event’s menu, along with unique auction items including projects made by current 4-H’ers.
“We’re excited to host the Iowa 4-H Foundation Gala in eastern Iowa this year,” said Albert Grunenwald, Iowa 4-H Foundation’s Executive Director. “As a statewide organization, it was important for us to bring this event to other great cities in Iowa rather than asking our donors and guests to always travel to the Des Moines area.”
The foundation’s gala is a celebration of 4-H with 4-H alumni and friends. This black tie optional event will bring in hundreds of Iowa 4-H supporters from across the state to Cedar Rapids for the evening event. The live and silent auctions will feature blue ribbon items crafted by Iowa’s own 4-H’ers. Half of the proceeds from these items will be returned to the 4-H member’s club or county as they designate.
Iowa 4-H Foundation’s Gala is it’s largest celebration of Iowa 4-H that also raises money to continue the legacy of 4-H for future generations. In 2014 the Iowa 4-H Foundation invested $145,500 in improvements at the Iowa 4-H Center, $65,750 in scholarships to 71 4-H’ers and $12,385 in membership and registration support for 4-H activities.
“The 4-H supporters in eastern Iowa are thrilled to bring this successful event to Cedar Rapids,” says Deb Pullin-Van Auken, Iowa 4-H Foundation trustee and Gala committee chair. “We are planning an amazing event to celebrate 4-H and we look forward to hosting supporters from near and far.”
Cost to attend the event is $100 per individual, $150 per couple, or $1,000 per table sponsor to host 10 guests. A popular discount will return that allows young 4-H alumni (ages 21-30) and current 4-H staff to attend for $50 per individual.
Proceeds from this event fund many opportunities for Iowa’s 4-H youth, including membership fee support, tuition scholarships, state-level award recognition, national 4-H trips, and camping experiences at the Iowa 4-H Center. The Iowa 4-H Foundation Gala event has raised more than $350,000 during its five-year tenure.
